CHARACTER WORD FOR APRIL IS SELF-DISCIPLINE
CHARACTER WORD FOR APRIL IS SELF-DISCIPLINE

Our word of the month for April is self–discipline. Please partner with us to thank your child when they demonstrate self-discipline and give them suggestions. It’s important the vocabulary is consistent.
At school we remind them each day to take a moment and reflect on the day before, to make a goal of self-discipline this new day. Collaboration for consistency between home and school always provides the strongest foundation for your child’s development.

“By constantly practicing self-discipline and self-control, one can develop greatness of character.” (~author unknown)

CONTACT NUMBERS FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
CONTACT NUMBERS FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Please be sure to update the office with any changes to your telephone numbers or telephone numbers for your emergency contacts. We have had more than a few students that have not had current contact numbers sent in to school. We need to be able to reach parents/guardians in the event of an emergency. Please call 639-8234 or send in a note to update contact information.

HOMEWORK
HOMEWORK

We are revisiting the practice of checking agendas each day for each and every student as was the practice in the beginning of the year. Your child’s assignments are checked each day for being recorded in the agenda and materials prepared to go home. Teachers are guiding students to make sure these go into backpacks for your reference. Please check nightly with your child and look at their agenda and homework folder. Student growth and success is heightened dramatically by this extra practice.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
ATTENDANCE POLICY

It is my hope that everyone has a healthy winter season. Sick children should be at home for comfort and recovery. In making that decision, please remember that we do have an attendance policy. Students that have more than 20 absences per school year tend to struggle and have larger educational gaps. Students with 30 or more absences may require retention due to loss of instructional time and educational gaps that result from frequent absences. Please keep in mind that three tardies and/or dismissed earlies equal one absence. Thank you for helping help your child.
