Afton CSD Digital Device Program
The focus of the digital device program at Afton Central School District is to provide tools and resources to the 21st Century Learner. Excellence in education requires that technology be seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to technology is essential for the future, and one of the learning tools of these 21st Century students is a digital device.
Every student in grades K-12 will be assigned a digital device upon registering at Afton CSD.  The device is the responsibility of the student and parent, similar to a textbook.  If a device is accidently damaged, there is a $25 damage fee, but if a student intentionally damages a digital device beyond repair or the device is stolen, the parent will be responsible for the replacement cost of the device (approximately $550).   There will be a charge of $15 for damaged keyboards and other accessories, including a stylus (for students in grades 6-12) and charger, have a replacement cost of $35 if lost or damaged.  It is the responsibility of parent to ensure that devices are returned to the district if the student is no longer enrolled.  Any devices not returned to the district are considered stolen and the proper authorities will be notified.

A Digital Device 2022-23 Form is required if you wish your child to have a stylus.

The district has tried to address many questions/ concerns in the Digital Device section of the Student Handbook and in the Afton User Agreement link below for more information on roles and responsibilities.  Please read through that material carefully for more information on roles and responsibilities.

If you have any questions regarding the digital device program, please do not hesitate to contact the district office at (607) 639-8259.
