May 25:
The Afton varsity baseball season ended Wednesday, after a tough 5-2 loss to #1 seeded Deposit-Hancock in the semi-final round of Section IV Class D Sectional Tournament play. Ryan Wright pitched well, giving up 6 hits and 4 earned runs, while striking out 8. Justin Reeve and Jacob Wright each had 2 hits for Afton. One of Reeve’s hits cleared the fence for a home run. Braydon Baciuska also had an RBI.
Coach Beames and Coach Baciuska were proud to coach these young men and are proud of their accomplishment on and off the diamond.
We want to send a special thanks to the team’s seniors, Tyler Kelly, Jacob Stiner, Braden Sadlemire, Hunter Baciuska, Jacob Wright, and Adian Roof. Every one of them made immense contributions to the team. Thank you for your time and dedication to the Afton Baseball program and good luck in the future.
May 23:
In the Sectional Quarterfinals, the varsity baseball team beat visiting Southern Cayuga, 14-1, in 5 innings. Ryan Wright earned the win for Afton, pitching 4 innings of 3 hit baseball while striking out 10. Justin Reeve had a big day at the plate, collecting 3 RBI on 2 hits. Ryan Wright went 3-4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored and Jacob Wright went 2-3 with 2 RBI. Overall, the team had 16 hits in the contest. Afton travels to Deposit-Hancock to face-off against the Eagles in the semifinals on Wednesday, May 24. The first pitch is 4:30 pm.
May 11:
In MAC tournament match-up to determine third place, Afton beat visiting Bainbridge-Guilford 5-4 in 9 innings. Ryan Wright and Braydon Baciuska combined to pitch for Afton. Baciuska got the win and Wright got a no-decision, but Wright thew 8 innings, striking out 17 Bobcats. The game was won on a walk-off double for Justin Reeve, scoring Matthew Carman from first base. Carman and Reeve both had 2 hits and 1 RBI for Afton with Braydon Baciuska contributing 2 RBI to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th inning. Carter Burns also doubled. The Crimson Knights showed resiliency and won a big game to finish in third place in the league.
May 9:
In the MAC tournament Semi-Finals, the varsity baseball team fell to Unatego 1-0 in 8 innings. Ryan Wright had the lone hit for Afton. Justin Reeve pitched a complete game 6 hitter, giving up no earned runs and struck out 4.
May 2:
The Afton Crimson Knight baseball team continued to roll on Monday night, winning their fifth contest in a row. Afton traveled to Sidney to take on the Warriors in a league game and won 7-0. Ryan Wright earned the victory on the mound, pitching a complete game, 1 hit, shutout while pouring in 14 strikeouts. It was a 2 RBI day for both Tyler Kelly and Justin Reeve. Matthew Carman, Justin Reeve, and Tyler Kelly scored 2 runs apiece.
April 26:
The varsity baseball team won their fourth game in a row, beating visiting Walton 11-0, on Senior Recognition Night. Ryan Wright pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 17. Jacob Stiner, Braden Sadlemire, Jacob Wright, and Hunter Baciuska each had 2 hits apiece. Justin Reeve and Jacob Wright contributed 2 RBI. Matthew Carman and Braden Sadlemire each scored 3 runs.

April 25:
The varsity baseball team picked up wins 5 and 6 against Delaware Academy. The league game ended with a 6-5 final score. Braydon Baciuska got the win on the mound, pitching 6 innings and giving up 6 hits and 1 earned run. Ryan Wright, Matthew Carman, and Braden Sadlemire each had multiple hits for Afton. Justin Reeve finished with 3 RBI. The non-league game ended with a final score of 5-1. Justin Reeve picked up the win for Afton, pitching 6 2/3 innings of 5 hit baseball. Reeve struck out 11 Bulldogs and, offensively, had a hit and an RBI at the dish. Ryan Wright had 2 hits and 1 RBI and Tyler Kelly added an RBI.
April 19:
The Afton Crimson Knights varsity baseball team bounced back after 2 straight loses, beating Bainbridge-Guilford with a final score of 13-3. Ryan Wright pitched 6 1/3 innings and struck out 15 Bobcats. Wright helped himself with 2 hits at the plate and scored 4 runs. Justin Reeve had 3 RBIs on the day and Braydon Baciuska led all Afton players with 4 RBIs. Hunter Baciuska, Matthew Carman, and Carter Burns all chipped in 1 RBI apiece.
April 18:
Afton lost a battle with Deposit-Hancock, 5-2, in extra innings. The game was tied 2-2 after the 7th innings, but Afton could not hold on for the victory. Justin Reeve pitched a gem for the Crimson Knights, going 6 1/3 strong innings. He gave up only 2 hits and had 11 K’s. Reeve also had the lone RBI for Afton, who also saw hits from Ryan Wright, Tyler Kelly, and Braden Sadlemire.
April 15:
The Afton varsity baseball team lost a close game against visiting Charlotte Valley. The final score was 1-0. Ryan Wright pitched a complete game for Afton, giving up only 3 hits and striking out 13. Unfortunately, Afton could not get any runs across in the game. Offensively, Ryan Wright and Braden Sadlemire both hit a double.
April 13:
The Afton Crimson Knights varsity baseball team extended their win total to 3, beating Harpursville 12-6. The Crimson Knights scored 12 runs on 9 hits. Ryan Wright and Carter Burns each had 2 hits, while Burns drove in 4 RBIs. Ryan Wright scored 4 runs. Justin Reeve chipped in 3 RBIs and Braden Sadlemire had 2 RBIs of his own. Justin Reeve and Braydon Baciuska each pitched for Afton. Reeve finished with 10 K's in 4 innings and Baciuska finished with 7 K's in 3 innings. Afton faces Charlotte Valley Saturday morning at 11 am.
April 12:
The varsity baseball team lost a close game last night to Unatego, 1-0. It was a pitcher’s duel from start to finish. Ryan Wright pitched for the Crimson Knights, giving up 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 8. Matthew Carman had the lone hit for Afton. Afton will look to bounce back tomorrow at home when they face off against the Harpursville Hornets. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm. Come out and support the Crimson Knights!
April 11:
The Afton Crimson Knights Varsity baseball team is off to a 2-0 start, beating Walton 15-0 on Monday afternoon. Braydon Baciuska, Justin Reeve, and Jacob Wright combined to pitch the shutout, only giving up 2 hits. Ryan Wright led the way offensively for Afton, recording 3 hits and scoring 4 runs while also playing tremendous defense in centerfield. He was a home run away from hitting for the cycle. Hunter Baciuska had 2 RBIs in the win.
The team travels to Unatego today to take on the Spartans.
April 6:
The Afton Crimson Knight Varsity Baseball team started the season on Tuesday with a victory over visiting Schenevus!
The final score of the contest was 5-4. The game was tied at 4 in the bottom of the 8th when Ryan Wright laid down a squeeze bunt to score Hunter Baciuska from third base. Justin Reeve got the win on the mound for Afton, pitching 4 innings of 3 hit baseball and recorded 6 strikeouts. Braydon Baciuska got the start for Afton, also going 4 innings and gave up only 2 hits. Matthew Carman led Afton with 2 hits. Carman also had a run scored and an RBI. Braydon Baciuska helped his cause offensively, getting an RBI of his own. Afton travels to Walton today to play the Warriors.
