He was named to the MAC 1st Team All-Star for baseball for 2021, and the lead-off hitter for the RBI Thunder baseball 16-U baseball team.  In addition, Brady’s incredible work ethic helped him to improve from taking 5th in Section IV in wrestling in 10th grade to placing 6th in New York State in the 160-pound weight class.

Brady has also been an active member of his school community as a member of the National Honor Society. In addition, he has spent many hours helping with Afton youth sports.

Brady is extremely grateful to all of his family, coaches, teachers, and fellow students at Afton for encouraging him and helping him to become the person that he is today.

Brady plans to attend a Pre-Med program at a college in New York State. His goal is to attend the University of California, San Diego for medical school. Brady’s plan is to become an Orthopedic Doctor. During his senior year, Brady took on the challenge of the rigorous New Visions Allied Health program, where he has excelled and his desire to help people through his future career has been confirmed. Afton Central School is extremely proud of Brady and all of his accomplishments!

Afton Central School is also proud to announce that Mallory Carman, daughter of Mark and Terri Carman, has been named the Salutatorian of the Class of 2022. Her seven-semester grade point average is 98.6%. Mallory has spent most of her high school career working toward the goal of the highest academic achievement. An incredibly strong work ethic and commitment to her goals are some of her defining traits.  Mallory has achieved High Honor Roll since middle school. With the recent introduction of the Superintendent’s List at Afton, Mallory has also been consistently included in this honor.

Through a great deal of hard work and persistence, Mallory is also on track to earn her Associate’s Degree through Tompkins Cortland Community College this year. This is a significant achievement and has involved taking extra courses in addition to her classes at Afton.

Mallory grew up racing and uses racing as an escape from the crazy world.  She also truly enjoys the people that she has met and the family bonds that have been created between them.

She would also like to thank the loving staff members of Afton Central School for always reminding her of everything she has accomplished and everything she has yet to achieve. Last but not least, she would to thank her friends and family for their constant love and support through everything.  She is forever grateful for everyone who has walked into her life.

Some words of advice that Mallory would like to share with the underclassmen…First, if you don’t know it by 11:00 p.m., you’re never going to know it. So go to bed and rest up.  Second, don’t forget to take time for yourself even when things get hectic.  Lastly, life is about balance. Don’t overdo any one thing to much or one thing too little.

Mallory plans to attend Hartwick College to major in Psychology next fall. Her eventual goal is to graduate with her Doctoral Degree in Sports Psychology and open her own practice. Mallory’s desire is to help athletes to overcome obstacles and improve their mental and physical performance. The Afton Central School Community is incredibly proud of Mallory and all of her achievements!
