Smart Schools Bond Act Preliminary Plan
Afton Central School District has an allocation of $924,803 through the Smart Schools Bond Act. Schools are able to use funds within this Bond Act for school improvements within the following categories: highspeed broadband connectivity, acquisition of learning technologies, construction of facilities for prekindergarten programs, or installation of high-tech security features. The purpose of this plan is to discuss high-tech security features and highspeed broadband connectivity that would benefit Afton Central School District.
School Connectivity ($30,313.01)
- Add External Wi-Fi points throughout the outside of school building
- This will allow for students and families to have Wi-Fi access while on the outside of the building, along with allow for the use of emergency management systems which require Wi-Fi access.
High Tech Security Features ($892,836.91)
- Wireless door access points throughout building
- Internal doors will have a wireless access point that can be opened using digital school identification badges. This will allow us to immediately lock doors within the building in the event of a lockdown, along with remove the necessity of providing/collecting staff keys.
