Congratulations to the following outstanding Agriculture Educator, Cathleen Reeder, who received a NYS Golden Owl honoree award from Nationwide Insurance on March 16, 2024, for District 4 FFA. Mrs. Reeder is now in the running to win the NYS grand prize which will be announced in May 2024.
New York FFA is proud to partner with Nationwide Insurance and New York Farm Bureau to offer the Golden Owl Award. The Golden Owl Award is extended to support agricultural educators who devote countless hours, and often their own resources, to positively impact the lives of their students. Mrs. Reeder would like to say " Thank you for bestowing me with such an honor and this special award. I feel overwhelmed and emotional, and I am at a loss for words, this is a very special moment in my life. It already felt like a win when I found out that I was even being considered for this honorary award. Thank you to NYS Farm Bureau, Nation Wide Insurance, Afton CSD, Afton Alumni Association and the students that made this happen! Having community support helps the Afton FFA so thank you to everyone that supports the program and shows up for the kids."
