The Crimson Knights varsity boy's baseball team won against the Delaware Academy Bulldogs on Tuesday (4/24) 11 to zero.

Junior Ryan Wright struck out 17 batters as the southpaw led Afton past Delaware Academy on Tuesday. Wright threw a complete game shutout on just 90 pitches as he scattered 2 hits and walked just one. In the top of the 7th inning he threw an immaculate inning, striking out the side on nine pitches.

Offensively Afton racked up 10 hits in the game with Senior Justin Reeves providing the pop in the middle of the lineup. The infielder led Afton with 3 RBI's and went 2-for-3 on the day. Justin Reeves (Junior), Matt Carmen (Senior), Braydon Baciuska (Senior) and Timothy Barnett (8th-Grader) each collected 2 hits for the Crimson Knights. The 2 hits by Barnett were his first 2 on the season.

Overall, the Crimson Knights had patience at the plate, totaling 6 walks for the game. The Crimson Knights’ ace Wright also drew 2 walks on the day. Afton jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning after Carmen drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by Reeves’ 2-RBI singles. An error by Delaware Academy extended Afton’s led to 4-0 in the bottom of the third, and the Crimson Knights never looked back.

The Crimson Knights improved to 7-2 on the season and will travel to face the Oxford Blackhawks on Thursday.

The Lady Knights won in their matchup against Walton on Wednesday night over Walton 23 to 8!

Misty Bushaw picked up the win on the mound and went three for four at the plate with a double.  Makenna Schultz scored four runs, going three for three at the plate with two triples and a double.  Alyssa Spathelf drove in 3 RBI's with a triple and a double.  Megan Racine went three for four at the plate with a double and drove in three RBI's.  Catherine Crocker went two for four with 2 RBI's.  Afton had 10 extra base hits out of 23 total hits on the night! They were aggressive on the bases with 12 stolen bases on the night. Anna Cable went 3 for 4 on the night with a double while scoring 3 runs. Defensively the team played solidly, limiting baserunners after the first inning and only allowed 2 earned runs. The team plays at Oxford on Thursday night.
