The Afton FFA Food Pantry is proud to share that we recently received a generous donation of beef from Empire Livestock LLC, who purchased a steer at the Delaware County Fair 4-H Livestock Auction on August 15th. The steer was raised by Tyler Groff, a dedicated 4-H and FFA member from Franklin FFA. After the purchase, the steer was processed at Steiner’s Meat Processing in Otego and packaged into convenient 1-lb. ground beef portions to be shared with families in need.

Today, Tyler visited the Afton FFA Food Pantry alongside his Agriculture Teacher, the Franklin Superintendent, and his mom. They toured our program and saw the finished product of his steer now serving the community. As part of our monthly distribution, Afton FFA members help pack and pass out food boxes, ensuring that fresh and local products like this beef reach families who need it most.

Moments like this show the importance of sharing accolades—recognizing the generosity of our supporters, the hard work of students like Tyler, and the dedication of Afton FFA members who keep the pantry running each month. By celebrating these contributions, we honor the value of agricultural education, youth leadership, and the partnerships that make a real difference in our community. We extend a heartfelt thank you to Empire Livestock LLC for their generosity and to Tyler for his commitment in raising an animal that will help feed so many.
