BGAH-CV Girls’ Wrestling Report: December–January

The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville–Chenango Valley (BGAH-CV) girls’ wrestling team has been busy over the past month, competing in several tournaments and dual meets with strong performances across the roster.

Home Tri-Meet at Harpursville – December 23rd
BGAH-CV kicked off the action at home, hosting Susquehanna Valley and Oxford-Greene. In the opening dual against Susquehanna Valley, Alana Blanchard (Freshman), Lola Pritchard (Sophomore), Maria Genovesi (Junior), and Leila Whitman (Sophomore) secured wins, while Amber Tyler (Senior), Gracie Bagg (Senior), Avamarie Trisvan (Junior), and Aubrey Frank (Freshman) came up short. BGAH-CV held on for a tight 19–15 victory.

In the second dual against Oxford-Greene, victories from Alana Blanchard (Freshman), Lola Pritchard (Sophomore), and Sydnie McCloe (Senior) kept the match competitive, but Oxford-Greene edged BGAH-CV 15–14.

Dame of Thrones Tournament – January 4th
At the Dame of Thrones tournament, Maria Genovesi (Junior) led the team with a 2–1 record to earn 2nd place. Madison Farberman (7th) finished 1–2 for 4th place, while Gracie Bagg (Senior) and Taylor Snell (7th) went 0–3, both placing 6th in their brackets.

Southern Tier Memorial Girls Tournament – January 9th
At the Southern Tier Memorial Girls Tournament, Madison Farberman (7th) turned in a 3–1 performance to earn 2nd place. Alana Blanchard (Freshman) finished 4–2 for 7th, and Avamarie Trisvan (Junior) went 4–3 for 6th. Sydnie McCloe (Senior), Taylor Snell (7th), and Leila Whitman (Sophomore) each posted 1–2 records. Gracie Bagg (Senior), Aubrey Frank (Freshman), Maria Genovesi (Junior), Lola Pritchard (Sophomore), Lily Shaver (Junior), and Amber Tyler (Senior) all finished 0–2.

Windsor Lady Black Knights Invitational - January 19th
Madison Farberman (7th) was a standout at the Windsor Lady Black Knights Invitational, posting a 3–1 record and a 3rd-place finish. Her highlight came in an impressive comeback, rallying from a 1–10 deficit—one point from being teched—to pin her opponent in the second period. Alana Blanchard (Freshman) went 3–2 for 7th place, and Sydnie McCloe (Senior) finished 3–2 for 6th. Lola Pritchard (Sophomore) ended the tournament 2–2, while Lily Shaver (Junior) and Avamarie Trisvan (Junior) each went 1–2. Leila Whitman (Sophomore) was 1–1 before a medical forfeit ended her tournament. Gracie Bagg (Senior), Maria Genovesi (Junior), Taylor Snell (7th), and Amber Tyler (Senior) each finished 0–2.

Chenango Forks Dual - January 14th
BGAH-CV traveled to Chenango Forks for a dual meet, narrowly falling 30–25. The team earned key points with several pins: Alana Blanchard (Freshman) recorded the fastest pin of the night in just three seconds at 114 pounds, Madison Farberman (7th) pinned her opponent at 94 pounds in 1:04, Lily Shaver (Junior) followed with a 1:49 pin at 107, Lola Pritchard (Sophomore) won by forfeit, and Sydnie McCloe (Senior) pinned her opponent at 152 in 3:07. Amber Tyler (Senior), Maria “Bea” Genovesi (Junior), Avamarie Trisvan (Junior), and Leila Whitman (Sophomore) battled hard but came up short, while Chenango Forks also benefited from two forfeit wins.

BGAH-CV continues to show depth across all weight classes, with younger wrestlers like Madison Farberman (7th) and Alana Blanchard (Freshman) making strong impressions alongside seasoned seniors such as Sydnie McCloe, Gracie Bagg, and Amber Tyler. The team looks forward to building on these performances in upcoming meets and tournaments.
