Afton Central School is proud to announce that Emilie Hopkins, daughter of Brian and Katherine Hopkins, has been named the Valedictorian of the class of 2026. Emilie has maintained a seven-semester grade point average of 100.464.

Over the past four years, Emilie has shown hard work and determination throughout her education. She has achieved Superintendent’s List throughout her high school career and is projected to receive her Associate’s Degree through Tompkins Cortland Community College in May. This year, Emilie has also been a part of the New Vision Allied Health Program, where she has had the opportunity to shadow various medical professionals. Emilie was also selected as the Afton student for the Scholar Recognition Award for the class of 2026.

 

In addition to academics, Emilie has been involved in various extracurricular activities. She has participated in varsity field hockey, indoor and outdoor track and field, and softball where she has received recognition for being a scholar athlete and first-team all-star many times. Emilie is also president of her class, the school student board member, president of Honor Society, and was selected as a representative for the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program this past year.

 

Emilie would like to thank her parents, brother, and friends for their unwavering support, as well as her teachers and coaches for their dedication to her learning.

 

Emilie plans to attend Villanova University to major in Biology this fall. She plans to pursue medical school with the goal of becoming a dermatologist.

Afton Central School is also proud to announce that Jordan Phillips, daughter of Daniel and Tracy Phillips, has been named the Salutatorian of the Class of 2026 with a seven-semester grade point average of 99.885%.

Jordan has maintained Superintendent’s List throughout her high school career, along with being on track to earn her Associate’s Degree in General Studies through Tompkins Cortland Community College. She has also been involved in many extracurricular activities. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government, and is the President of SADD. Additionally, she participated in 6 years of volleyball, a year of varsity indoor track, and a year of varsity basketball.

 

Jordan would like to thank her family and friends for their endless support and guidance throughout her journey. She would also like to thank her teachers.

 

Jordan plans to attend college and major in Psychology this fall. Her plan is to eventually receive her doctorate and become a Child Psychologist to help children overcome mental health battles and receive the help they need.
