What a way to welcome our Crimson Knights back to school!
Dense fog descended on Afton just as students were arriving this morning, creating a memorable backdrop for the first day of the 2026-27 school year.
Through the fog, students made their way across the bridge from the parking lot and down the sidewalk toward the schools – many with their families by their side – while others stepped off buses to a warm greeting from Superintendent Annette Hammond.
There were plenty of first-day moments along the way: parents walking their children to school, hugs and goodbyes at the entrance, and familiar faces welcoming students back for another year of learning and growing.
Elementary Principal Maureen Smith greeted students as they made their way into the Elementary School, while Middle/High School Principal Joel Carle welcomed students heading into the Middle/High School.
Foggy or not, there were smiles all around as the Afton school community came together for the first day. We hope these photos capture some of the excitement, warmth and special moments that made this morning one to remember.
