BGAH Cross Country competed under the lights in the Owego Invite Friday night. Over 40 schools were in attendance from all over Section IV and northern Pennsylvania.
The varsity boys were led by Owen Degan's BG and BGAH Cross Country record-setting time of 15:59.6 (5k distance), finishing in sixth place in a field of 213 runners. Sean Fowler, Ethan Beardslee, Rowan Beasinger, Jackari Garipoli, Mason Lans and My'Kel George all had personal best times, and the team placed sixth overall out of 31 scoring teams, second in the Small School Division behind Bradford, PA.
In a program first, the boys fielded a full JV team, led by Andrew Menard, followed by Zion Lucchese, Teagan O'Connor, Connor Rowe, Caleb Robertson, Brennan Andres and Petee Blance. The boys placed 15th overall and fifth in the Small School Division.
The varsity girls were led by Lelaenia Baldwin's 21:41, followed by Macey LaFever, Elzie John, Ruth Wilson, Gabby Gross, Myahlee Palmer and Marissa Mayo. The girls team placed 10th overall out of 19 complete teams, and fifth out of 12 in the Small School Division. In the JV race, Gabby Forker set a personal best of nearly 4 minutes faster. All varsity/JV girls had a personal best time for their season so far!
Modified boys placed 15th as a team (fourth in Small Schools), led by huge personal bests from Zack Ives, Roman Lucchese, Ivan Lans, Chris Forker, Lucas Vansteenburg and Xavier Tufano.
Modified girls saw Carly LaVergne's personal best lead the team to a 16th place, seventh in Small Schools. Hadley Buttice, Sophia Beach, Evelyn Noxon, Zendaya Pierson, Delanie Shem-Tov and Elliott Grimm rounded out the top seven on the girls' side.
BGAH Cross Country's next meet is home at Clinton Park in Bainbridge vs. the MAC League on Tuesday. Races start at 4:45 p.m.
