Afton Central School District is in the final stages of setting up new vape detectors. These devices have been placed in all bathrooms and locker rooms. They produce a silent alarm that signals staff when vapor or other chemicals are detected. Students in the bathroom when one of these alarms goes off will be addressed and receive a consequence. If the devices are tampered with in any way, they will produce a loud alarm and a consequence will be issued.
If your child walks into a bathroom where there is a student vaping, encourage them to leave immediately. Please speak with your child about the dangers of vaping and our new devices. Thank you for helping us keep Afton a safe environment for all students!

Thank you to Dr. Andy Pease, Director of Bands at Hartwick College, for visiting our high school band program this morning. He also shared insight on what it is like to play in band at the collegiate level regardless of major!
