Our Afton FFA students had an outstanding day at SUNY Cobleskill on March 3, 2026 attending the Ag Solutions and Networking Conference!
Students heard a powerful keynote from Richard Ball, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, who spoke about the future of agriculture across NYS and opportunities within the industry. Workshops focused on important topics impacting agriculture throughout New York State, including Energy Grants and Information to Enhance Energy Efficiency presented in partnership with National Grid and NYSERDA, as well as a Farmer Business Planning session hosted by the Institute for Rural Vitality at SUNY Cobleskill. Opportunities like this challenge our students to think bigger, ask stronger questions, and see themselves as the next generation of agricultural leaders in New York State. We are so proud of how they represented Afton FFA with professionalism and pride.

Happy New York Thursday, Afton Students! We are thankful for our incredible food service staff and community partners for their outstanding work providing nourishing meals for our students!

Hello, Afton Community!
Due to poor road conditions, Afton Central School District is closed today (3/4/26).

On Friday, February 27, 2026, our Animal Science and College Bio students had the incredible opportunity to work hands-on with 7-week-old husky mix puppies during their very first round of vaccines. Students assisted and observed alongside Courtney Borden, veterinarian at Dutton Veterinary Clinic in Walton, NY.
Dr. Borden, who serves both large and small animal clients, shared her expertise while guiding students through proper vaccine protocols, handling techniques, and real-world veterinary procedures. Experiences like this bring classroom learning to life and give our students meaningful exposure to careers in animal health.
A huge thank you to Dr. Courtney for continuing to invest in our students and generously sharing her time and knowledge with our program. We are also incredibly grateful to Dutton Veterinary Clinic for donating the vaccines and helping make this hands-on learning experience possible. Community partnerships like this truly make a difference — and yes, there were plenty of puppy cuddles, too!
