Congratulations to our third-grade Big 36 Multiplication Masters! Students had to successfully demonstrate their math fact fluency in order to win a pizza party! We are thankful for Ms. Vanvorce and Ms. Wagner and our third-grade staff for working hard with these students to help them reach this big accomplishment!

Congratulations to our 2026 retirees for their incredible contributions to Afton Central School District! Afton staff celebrated at the retirement dinner. While not every retire was able to attend, we are so thankful for their services to this district and our students. We wish them all a happy and healthy retirement.

Mrs. Driggs and Mrs. Wells 1st grade classes published a book. They all wrote about what they love most. So proud of all their hard work!

The 5th grade class recently visited the Agriculture Room for a sweet introduction to what awaits them in 6th grade Ag Tech this fall. Students rolled up their sleeves and made fresh-pressed lemonade, learning firsthand how agricultural products move from farm to table.
While enjoying their refreshing treat, students also got a sneak peek at some of the exciting hands-on activities, projects, and learning opportunities offered in the agriculture program. From food science and horticulture to leadership and agricultural technology, students discovered that agriculture is much more than farming—it's a pathway to exploring science, business, and innovation. We look forward to welcoming these future Ag students back in the fall!

Happy Father's Day to all of our amazing Afton dads!

Afton FFA members partnered with DCMO BOCES FFA to operate the concession stand during the Kids and Calves Clinic held June 12–14 at the Norwich Fairgrounds. Throughout the weekend, students prepared and served a variety of refreshments, including fresh squeezed lemonade, snow cones, and food items for participants and spectators. Students worked diligently on both Saturday and Sunday, demonstrating teamwork, responsibility, and excellent customer service while helping support the success of the clinic. Their dedication and positive attitude helped create an enjoyable experience for everyone who attended.

Afton STEP students visited the Binghamton Weather Center this week to learn about the different scientific instruments used to monitor and distribute essential forecast information. Way to go, Students!

Congratulations to Appalonia Bushaw for placing 3rd in the Class C (Classes C/D combined) Pentathlon at the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track meet in Webster-Schroeder this weekend. Appalonia competed in the 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and 800m run over 2 days, scoring 2892 to crush the Harpursville-Afton program record and place 16th in Federation (all leagues and classes combined) in NY. This follows up her Section 4 championship in Pentathlon last week in the State Qualifier meet, and adds to her impressive post- season results, which include two 2nd places (HJ, 100h) and a Class D Sectionals title in Long Jump. We look forward to even more success next year!

The 8th-grade recognition ceremony is coming up on Monday, June 15th at 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium. We hope to see you there!
