6th grade students went on a field trip to the Endicott Water Pollution Control Plant in Endicott, NY. This field trip direct correlated with the unit about the Water Cycle and pollutants from our water usage in our area.

The Afton Elementary 5th grade made the trip to Cooperstown to tour the National Baseball Hall of Fame. This came on the heels of finishing the book, Promises to Keep, as a class. This biography was written by Sharon Robinson about her father, baseball legend Jackie Robinson. The tour guides were impressed with the background knowledge the students had in the topics displayed at the hall of fame. If your child is in the fifth grade, be sure to ask them about the trip and congratulate them on their behavior and participation in the activities at the museum! This was followed by a fun lunch at McDonald's. A good time was had by all! A special thanks to Jenn DeYoung, Paul Slivka, Peggy Wagner, Melissa VanVorce, Courtney Tomassetti, Nicki Andrews and Kathy Schneidau for organizing and chaperoning on the trip!

Harpursville and Afton Track had their Section D Class Meet (Sectionals) last night in Marathon. Thomas Joyce finished 3rd in the 400m and 200m, and Melissa Cantone finished 3rd in Shotput. These results, along with Equan Patterson's 2179 points in Pentathlon, will advance these 3 to the State Qualifier Meet next week in Union-Endicott. This meet is limited to the top 24 (18 for field and pentathlon) athletes in all of Section 4 in their respective events. Congratulations, Track and Field Athletes!
