The Afton Varsity Softball team lost a tough game against BG 4-8. Jenna Wilson had 7 strikeouts and also knocked in a run with a double. Makenna Schultz, Miranda Schultz, Kadence Racine, Briella Fendick and Adleigh Noone picked up a hit each. Megan Racine had a hit and an RBI. Rylee Rupakus dropped in two hits and McKenna Ross drilled a two-run homerun. The team looks to play home against Delhi for their final MAC game before sectional play.

The Afton Varsity Softball team completed their regularly scheduled season with a win against Greene 7-6. The team has won their last 6 games in a row. This earns the team the third spot in the Midstate Athletic Conference. The team will play at Bainbridge today at 4:30 for the first round of the MAC tournament.

Jenna Wilson got the win on the mound and brought in a run on the night. Miranda Schultz went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Adleigh Noone went 2 for 3 while driving in a run, Rylee Rupakus went 2 for 3, Makenna Ross and Charley Nickerson picked up a hit. Makenna Schultz also had a hit and scored 2 runs and Faith Latashack-Lockwood knocked in the last run for the team.

Harpursville-Afton Outdoor Track competed in the Parkhurst Invitational at Union Endicott. The girls team placed 13th overall out of 27 attending schools from across Sections 3 and 4, while the boys took 18th out of 28. The girls team was led by 1st place results from Appalonia Bushaw in Long Jump and High Jump and an 8th from Jaylee Kehoe in Shot Put. The boys had results of 6th in 110H from Jake Barber, 7th from the 4x100m relay, 8th in 3000m Steeplechase from Sean Fowler, and a 10th from Braylon Atkinson, who threw a modern era program record 110'-3" in discus. Our next invite is the Quinney Invitational at Sidney on Friday 5/15.

The Afton Knights softball team kept rolling on Friday night with a win against Oxford on Friday night (9-1)! Jenna Wilson earned the win on the mound and picked up 7 strikeouts. At the plate, 9 Afton players picked up hits. Miranda Schultz went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIS and Rylee Rupakus went 2 for 4 while driving in 2 runs. Adleigh Noone, Kadence Racine and Jenna Wilson added 2 hits each and drove in 3 RBIS. Megan Racine, McKenna Ross, Briella Fendick (RBI) and Makenna Schultz also picked up hits. The team played great defense and kept runners tight by picking off four base runners (Megan Racine- Miranda Schultz) and had an outstanding relay from Kadence Racine to Rylee Rupakus to Megan Racine. The team improves to (11-3) and has their next game is today at Greene 11:00 a.m.

This winter, Afton sophomore, Jordan Strong, participated in a national flash fiction writing contest, Young Writers Unsolved, in her creative writing class with Ms. Echevarria. She earned the Talent for Writing award for her creativity. We are pleased to announce she was chosen to be included in the publication Unsolved Stories of Mystery, a Young Writers Anthology, set for release August 31, 2026. Way to go, Jordan!

The Afton Varsity softball team kept their streak alive with a big shut out win over Unadilla Valley-GMU. Jenna Wilson led the charge on the mound with 8 strikeouts. She also went 2 for 2 at the plate, driving in a run and scoring 5 runs. Megan Racine went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and a home run while driving in 5 RBIs. McKenna Ross also nailed a home run and scored four runs. Adleigh Noone went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and drove in 3 RBIs. Rylee Rupakus went 3 for 5 while driving in a run and scoring 3. Makenna Schultz went 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Briella Fendick, Miranda Schultz, and Kadence Racine picked up a hit and an RBI each. Charley Nickerson scored three runs for the team. The team improved their record to 10-3 and plays at Oxford on Friday.

Our varsity softball team celebrated their six seniors in their senior night game; Misty Bushaw, Alyssa Spathelf, Kadence Racine, Miranda Schultz, Makenna Schultz, and Emilie Hopkins!

They won a close match against Sidney (17-16). Jenna Wilson picked up the win on the mound with seven strikeouts. At the plate Jenna went four for for while scoring five runs and driving in two. Miranda Schultz also went two for two while driving in a run. Emilie Hopkins drove in four RBI's and Adleigh Noone drove in another three runs. Makenna Schultz scored three runs and picked up a hit on the night. Rylee Rupakus went two for four at the plate and had an assist at the plate for a big out! Way to go, Team!
