Seven of our students had an incredible experience attending the 101st NYS FFA Convention in Buffalo from May 14–16, 2026! With more than 3,010 FFA members in attendance, convention was filled with leadership, learning, competition, and unforgettable memories.
Congratulations to Emma, Bryan, Kity, and Michelle for competing in the Maple Career & Development Contest! We are also proud of Kaden for being one of just 50 students to receive the prestigious Blue Jacket Award.
A special congratulations goes out to Bryan, Kity, and Abby for earning their Empire Degrees — the highest honor students can receive at the state level. This outstanding achievement recognizes their dedication, leadership, and hard work in agricultural education and FFA.

Harpursville-Afton Track and Field competed in the Quinney Invitational on Friday night at Sidney. The Girls team placed 7th out of 27 attending teams, led by Appalonia Bushaw’s 1st in Long Jump and 2nd places in High Jump and the 100m Hurdles. Amber Tyler placed 8th in the 2000m Steeplechase, along with Top 20 finishes from Angelina Quaglia (13th, 400m), Gabby Gross (15th, 3000m), and Charlotte Quick (16th, Shotput). The Boys team placed 21st, with Sean Fowler’s 5th in the 3000m Steeplechase, RJ Dalmida’s 5th in Triple Jump leading the way, along with great results from Jake Barber and Nolan Shofkom in the 100m Dash. Their next meet will MAC Champs at Sidney this Wednesday.
Our Middle/High School band and chorus students are working hard to prepare for their concert on Tuesday night (5/19) at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
The Afton Varsity softball team ended the regular season with a win against visiting Delhi 3-2. The team played solid defense behind Jenna Wilson who fired in 9 strikeouts. Makenna Schultz had one of her two hits in the first inning and ended up scoring on Adleigh Noone's RBI single. Jenna Wilson went 2 for 2 at the plate while knocking in a run. Megan Racine, Riley Rupakus and Faith Lockwood also picked up hits. McKenna Ross hit a deep ball to the center field fence which drove in the last run and kept Afton in the lead. The team awaits their sectional placement to find the time and date of their next game.

Afton Central School District is proud to congratulate Jenna Wilson for earning Athlete of the Week from WCDO for her outstanding athletic performance last week.
The Afton Varsity Softball team lost a tough game against BG 4-8. Jenna Wilson had 7 strikeouts and also knocked in a run with a double. Makenna Schultz, Miranda Schultz, Kadence Racine, Briella Fendick and Adleigh Noone picked up a hit each. Megan Racine had a hit and an RBI. Rylee Rupakus dropped in two hits and McKenna Ross drilled a two-run homerun. The team looks to play home against Delhi for their final MAC game before sectional play.

The Spring Chorus and Band Concert will be on Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 p.m. Our students and teachers are working hard in preparation for this exciting event!
The Afton Varsity Softball team completed their regularly scheduled season with a win against Greene 7-6. The team has won their last 6 games in a row. This earns the team the third spot in the Midstate Athletic Conference. The team will play at Bainbridge today at 4:30 for the first round of the MAC tournament.
Jenna Wilson got the win on the mound and brought in a run on the night. Miranda Schultz went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Adleigh Noone went 2 for 3 while driving in a run, Rylee Rupakus went 2 for 3, Makenna Ross and Charley Nickerson picked up a hit. Makenna Schultz also had a hit and scored 2 runs and Faith Latashack-Lockwood knocked in the last run for the team.
Our STEP students are working hard on their programming poster projects. Students used online coding platforms to program devices using block coding unique programing functions! Way to go, Students! We are so thankful for our partnership with SUNY Morrisville for providing these opportunities for our students!

Harpursville-Afton Outdoor Track competed in the Parkhurst Invitational at Union Endicott. The girls team placed 13th overall out of 27 attending schools from across Sections 3 and 4, while the boys took 18th out of 28. The girls team was led by 1st place results from Appalonia Bushaw in Long Jump and High Jump and an 8th from Jaylee Kehoe in Shot Put. The boys had results of 6th in 110H from Jake Barber, 7th from the 4x100m relay, 8th in 3000m Steeplechase from Sean Fowler, and a 10th from Braylon Atkinson, who threw a modern era program record 110'-3" in discus. Our next invite is the Quinney Invitational at Sidney on Friday 5/15.
There will be a Chobani – Community Cupboard Mobile Food Pantry today, Monday May 11, from 4:00-5:00pm in the school visitor’s lot. All are welcome to come through the line for food. The Afton Knights softball team kept rolling on Friday night with a win against Oxford on Friday night (9-1)!
Jenna Wilson earned the win on the mound and picked up 7 strikeouts. At the plate, 9 Afton players picked up hits. Miranda Schultz went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIS and Rylee Rupakus went 2 for 4 while driving in 2 runs. Adleigh Noone, Kadence Racine and Jenna Wilson added 2 hits each and drove in 3 RBIS. Megan Racine, McKenna Ross, Briella Fendick (RBI) and Makenna Schultz also picked up hits.
The team played great defense and kept runners tight by picking off four base runners (Megan Racine- Miranda Schultz) and had an outstanding relay from Kadence Racine to Rylee Rupakus to Megan Racine.
The team improves to (11-3) and has their next game is today at Greene 11:00 a.m.
This winter, Afton sophomore, Jordan Strong, participated in a national flash fiction writing contest, Young Writers Unsolved, in her creative writing class with Ms. Echevarria. She earned the Talent for Writing award for her creativity. We are pleased to announce she was chosen to be included in the publication Unsolved Stories of Mystery, a Young Writers Anthology, set for release August 31, 2026. Way to go, Jordan!

She also went 2 for 2 at the plate, driving in a run and scoring 5 runs. Megan Racine went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and a home run while driving in 5 RBIs. McKenna Ross also nailed a home run and scored four runs. Adleigh Noone went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and drove in 3 RBIs. Rylee Rupakus went 3 for 5 while driving in a run and scoring 3. Makenna Schultz went 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Briella Fendick, Miranda Schultz, and Kadence Racine picked up a hit and an RBI each. Charley Nickerson scored three runs for the team. The team improved their record to 10-3 and plays at Oxford on Friday.
