BGAH Cross Country competed in Sectionals this past Thursday.

The Varsity Boys team of Owen Degan, Ethan Beardslee, Sean Fowler, Rowan Beasinger, Jackari Garipoli, Aiden Quick, My'Kel George, Mason Lans and Connor Rowe placed 2nd overall, led by Owen Degan's 3rd place finish, which qualifies him for States this coming Saturday in Queensbury.

The Varsity Girls team of Maddie Ingham, Madison Farberman, Lelaenia Baldwin, Jalyn Winans, Macey LaFever, Gabby Gross, Marissa Mayo and Issy Suda took 2nd overall, led by Maddie Ingham's 4th placed followed by Maddy Farberman's 5th place. Both girls also qualified for States as well.

The varsity girls field hockey team lost in a hard-fought defeat (2-1) against Vestal in the Section IV Class-B Field Hockey Championship. We are proud of our team for an outstanding season!

National School Psychology Week Finding your Path with a school and signs pointed to the library and art room

Afton Step students enjoyed a trip to the Rosamund Gifford Zoo during their Stem enrichment day! Students met with representatives from colleges and universities to explore career opportunities and also had a great time at the zoo!

The BGAH Cross Country team ran in the MAC League Championships on Wednesday at General Clinton Park. The varsity boys team took 2nd as a team, led by Owen Degan in 2nd place with a program record of 16:42 time. The varsity girls team took 2nd overall, lead by Maddie Ingham and Maddy Faberman in 4th and 5th. The varsity teams have their next race at Chenango Valley State Park on Thursday for sectionals on November 6th. The girls race at 11:30 and the Boys at 12:30. The modified program wrapped up their season with great results. The modified boys took 2nd as a program, with Brennan Andres in 7th and Dawson Mayo in 9th. The modified girls were led by great individual efforts from Elzie John in 4th and Myahlee Palmer in 6th.

SUNY Broome is excited to be partnering with the Afton Central School District in offering the College Express program to all graduating seniors. Through the College Express partnership, all Afton seniors were be offered acceptance to SUNY Broome for the fall 2026 semester. This direct admissions program helps students get through the enrollment process easily in collaboration with the school district. This program provides resources beyond SUNY Broome to learn more about Financial Aid, Opportunity Programs and College Success. No matter what plans a student has after graduation this program offers access now and in the future. This program is part of SUNY Broome's effort to strengthen the community, and to show all students there is a place for them at SUNY Broome if they are interested.
