Happy National Custodian Appreciation Day! We are thankful for all you do!

BGAH Cross Country team hosted our home MAC Meet at General Clinton Park. Modified Boys took 2nd place led by Brennan Andres, while Modified Girls were led by Myahlee Palmer and Elzie John in 4th and 5th overall. Both varsity girls and boys teams won their races, led by Maddie Ingham and Owen Degan. Their next race is back at General Clinton this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. We hope to see you there!

Afton Elementary School Reading Incentive Program September 24, 2025 Dear Families, We’re thrilled to roll out our Reading Incentive Program at Afton Elementary School—a fun and motivating way to help students develop a lifelong love of reading while strengthening their literacy skills! How the program works this year: Students are encouraged to read a certain number of minutes each day, bringing them to a weekly total (knowing that some days we might read less and some days more, it happens ). The goals are: - PK–2: 10 minutes per day (50 minutes per week) - Grades 3–5: 20 minutes per day (100 minutes per week) We then ask that you and your student complete the reading log so that we can track their minutes for prizes! Monthly Book Raffle: Every student who submits their weekly reading log will be entered into a monthly raffle to win a FREE book! The more weeks they participate, the more chances they have to win! Quarterly Celebrations: Students who meet their reading goals each quarter will earn certificates and be celebrated with special events like ice cream parties, pizza lunches, and more! Each quarter’s celebration will be announced in classrooms. How You Can Support Your Child: • Set aside dedicated time for reading each day. • Talk with your child about what they’re reading, ask about the story, characters, and what they’re learning. • Read together as a family or listen to audiobooks while following along with the text. We believe reading opens doors to imagination, creativity, and academic success. With your support, we can make reading a joyful and rewarding part of every child’s

Guilford/Afton/Harpursville Boys Soccer beats Oxford 6-2 for a MAC win at OA. Ben Porter explodes for 6 goals to power B-G/A/H. Lucas Mills hands out 3 assists and Nolan Foster adds 2 assists. Joey Locke and Paxton LaMonica score 1 goal apiece for the Blackhawks with Calvin Moore collecting 1 assist.

Announcing Rooms for our district! Dear families, We are always working to improve and simplify communication between you and the Afton Central School District. Keeping up with your child's coursework and their teachers directly impacts their wellbeing both in the classroom and at home. School communication plays a big part in all of this, but it's often not set up to be as simple and easy to access as it could be. To address this issue, we're adding a new feature called Rooms to our district app. Rooms enables you to have two-way parent-teacher conversations and keep up with classroom announcements. Our district app currently offers: • Live feed updates • District and school news • Upcoming events • Breakfast and lunch menus • Push notifications for important and urgent announcements With Rooms, you '11 have access to even more exciting features like:• Two-way messaging with teachers, staff, and coaches • Classroom announcements, reminders about coursework, and materials This means that you don't need another app or tool to keep up with your child's teachers and coursework. You '11 be able to find the vast majority of school and district information in one place: within our Afton CSD app. If you don't already have it, the district app is free, and you can search for it in the Play Store and App Store! Soon you'll receive an invitation to Rooms by email or text. Once you receive the invite, you'll follow the link on your browser to create a login. After you've created your login, you can access Rooms through the Afton CSD app. Once you're there, you '11 see a toggle at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Just log in to get started.

Don't Miss any updates from Afton CSD! 1. Sear Afton Central School District' in your phone's app store and download. 2. Select Allow notifications when prompted on initial download to ensure you receive notifications. 3. Click on "Rooms" or "Messages" to Sign-In into Rooms. If you are not recieving Rooms notifications, confirm the Afton Central School District app notifications are enabled within your phone settings. Once confirmed, logout and back into Rooms.
