We are thrilled to announce that Afton Central School District earned the NYSPHSAA School of Distinction Scholar Athlete Award for the 2024-25 school year!

Less than 10% of all New York State high schools received this award for the 2024-2025 school year.

To be recognized as a School of Distinction, a school must have 100% of all its varsity teams earn the Scholar-Athlete Team Award during their respective sports season.

A Scholar-Athlete Team Award is earned when at least 75% of a team earns a 90% GPA.

In Crimson Knight action last night,

Afton/Harpursville Field Hockey defeats Vestal (3-2) in over time for a Section IV D-I win. Makenna Schultz scores 2 goals including the game winner in extra time. Adriana Hartman nets 1 goal and Grace Bagg deliver 1 assist. Goalkeeper Emilie Hopkins makes 6 saves in net.

Afton/Harpursville girls soccer lost to Charlotte Valley/Schenevus (2-6). Aisley Ruff leads Afton/Harpursville with 1 goal and 1 assist. Ariana Florance shovels in 1 goal and Jenna Wilson dishes out 1 assist.

Afton/Harpursville boys soccer lost to Sidney in a hard-fought defeat (5-7). Ben Porter and Nolan Foster score 2 goals each for B-G/A/H. John Winn nets 1 goal and Harpo Hardt had one assist.

A new program in the pool is starting soon! Aqua fitness will be starting November 3rd! It will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays when school is in session from 5:30 pm -6:30 pm. It costs $4 per person/class. This is a program for youth in grades 6-12 and adults. Aqua fitness will include cardio, core strengthening, and overall fitness in both deep water and shallow water. Students in grades 6-10 must come with a participating adult. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Over the past month our 2nd grade classes had the amazing opportunity to watch monarch butterflies’ hatch! The students were fascinated as they observed the caterpillars transform into chrysalises and patiently waited for the butterflies to emerge. When the monarchs were finally ready to hatch the kids were filled with excitement! It was such a special experience to see the life cycle up close and learn about the importance of caring for these incredible butterflies!

The girls modified soccer team won a thriller vs Unatego, 1-0 in extra time! A perfect cross from Kasey Congdon found Emma Colsten who buried the shot. The defense then held strong and allowed no shot over the next 6 minutes to secure the win. The combination of Hailey Merrin and Aurora Connett stopped several dangerous shots.

National Coaches Day Wishing all coaches a great day Thank you for all you do

Congratulations to our varsity girls field hockey team who won their senior night game in a tight game against Greene (2-1). Adriana Hartman scored 1 goal, Mackenna Schultz scored 1 goal, Carly Bagg scored 1 assist. Emilie Hopkins had 8 saves! The seniors are: Gracie Bagg, Vanessa Card, Adriana Hartman, Emilie Hopkins, Abby Hoyt, Jessalyn Powell, Makenna Schultz, Miranda Schultz.

Their record is now (8-2)! Great job, Team!
