Congratulations to Appalonia Bushaw for placing 3rd in the Class C (Classes C/D combined) Pentathlon at the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track meet in Webster-Schroeder this weekend. Appalonia competed in the 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, and 800m run over 2 days, scoring 2892 to crush the Harpursville-Afton program record and place 16th in Federation (all leagues and classes combined) in NY. This follows up her Section 4 championship in Pentathlon last week in the State Qualifier meet, and adds to her impressive post- season results, which include two 2nd places (HJ, 100h) and a Class D Sectionals title in Long Jump. We look forward to even more success next year!

The 8th-grade recognition ceremony is coming up on Monday, June 15th at 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium. We hope to see you there!

We are incredibly proud to share that Sarah Gaeta has been named a DCMO BOCES Librarian of the Year! Through her dedication, hard work, and vision, she has transformed both of our libraries into welcoming, organized, and student-centered spaces while championing literacy across our district. Sarah’s commitment to her profession, her completion of her teaching certification, and her leadership in preparing for an exciting renovation truly set her apart. Most importantly, she brings kindness, positivity, and a genuine passion for students and staff to everything she does.

Hello Afton Community! At last night's board meeting, the following adjustments to the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 Instructional Calendars: For the 2025/2026 Calendar: The following days will be half days for students, full days for faculty and staff: June 24, 25, 26, 2026. If no emergency closings are used prior to June 26th, then June 26, 2026, will be a give back day per the instructional calendar. For the 2026/2027 Calendar: The following days will be half days for students, full days for faculty and staff: June 23, 24, 25, 2027. If all emergency closings are not used prior to June 25, then June 25, 2027 will be a give back day per the instructional calendar.

Afton STEP students went on a field trip to Hanford Mills where they learned about Water Wheels and saw a 100-year-old water wheel in action. Students also did community service by cleaning the area around the Water Mill to help them prepare for another event! Way to go, STEP Students! After touring the historic site, they enjoyed lunch at 5 Guys! We are so thankful for our partnership with SUNY Morrisville's STEP program which provides these fantastic opportunities!
